What is the correct way to measure for chevy 5 bolt wheels. My rear end is froma S10, and i need to add spacers to get my rear wheels to align up with my front wheels. But i keep getting different answers around my town. Im using 1954 chevy rims on all 4 wheels and they fit my front and rear end perfect, but what bolt pattern do i have. I going to use spinner bar hubcaps, as im going old style. Please help. A diagram would help, or just draw it out for me. I thought i was smarter than this, but its been to many years. Thanks for any help guys.

Your Chevy wheels are 5 x 4 3/4 bolt circle..............Your rear track doesn't necessarily have to be right in line with the front. How much difference is there?

There is 1" difference each side. This is on my 48 chevy, and the wheels are very close to rubbing the inside wheelwell.

Should have used a wider rear end..................A 1 in spacer, if you can even get one will be very hard on the wheel studs and on the wheel bearings.

I met a guy at a show last year and he told me where to buy them. Said he has had his for 8 years now and has had no problems.

I agree... I don't like spacers at all, but respectable companies sell them in up to 2" for drag race applications. My buddy has some on his 68 Firebird so he can run late-model vette wheels and his G-machine seems to be fine after a couple years of autocrossing.

While they do add more weight and stress to the bearings, it also depends on the offset of the wheel. Like in my buddy's case, the spacer's width is counter-acted by the additional offset of the vette wheels. The track center of the wheel is still in the same place relative to the bearings.

By the way... to properly measure 5-bolt circles, go from the outside of one lug to the center of a lug diagonally across the circle. Like from #1 to #3. Since they're mostly in 1/4" incriments, it should be obvious.

Now that you know your S10 rear is 5x4-3/4", measure it and you'll see how its done.

If it was me, I'd just shop around for a set of wheels with less backspace. There's about a zillion wheels out there for a GM 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern. Safer than adapter spacers too!!
