Brake Booster - Hard to change?

1783 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  RapidRoy
Just a simple question.

The booster in my 70 Camaro just went bad (started hissing inside car, have to use both feet to stop car).

What is involved to change out? Does the brake system have to be interupted (brake fluid system) or is it just a matter of disconnecting by the brake pedal and at the firewall?

thanks

Welcome to the forum,

You should be able to unbolt the master cylinder from the brake booster and move it out of the way for booster removal without opening the brake lines. And if you have to remove the master cylinder from the brake lines not a big deal as you will then need to bleed the brakes.

As you go forward with projects a service manual for your Camaro will be a valuable aid so you might want to pick one up.

Good luck and have fun!
