Ok guys. I finished breaking in the white caprice today. I hooked up two glass packs this time, to cut the noise level down until a real mufflers and exhaust go on.

Everything went smooth, had great oil pressure, temperature never got above 200 degrees. Changed the oil, cut the oil filter open, couldn't find any metal particles. Got the timing taken care of. Made some carb adjustments, I have it idling smooth in park at 700 rpms.

I took a short video of it running, with my digital camera, but the sound quality is terrible. So I'm not going to upload it on here, but I tried to get something for you guys to listen to.

I'll be back on later, I'm taking that car for a ride.

Back

I just got in from my little un-insured/un-tagged/not state inspected, Road Trip. I went around the block three times. First trip around I went easy, transmission shifted well.

Second time around; I stopped out front of the house and then kind of laid into the throttle. The engine was cold so the secondaries didn't kick in. But it broke the tire loose easily and pulled pretty well.

The third time around I came creeping up to the bottom of the long hill that leads up to my house. I was in first gear going about 20mph and I quickly rolled into the throttle, secondaries kicked in and it pulled hard, I hit 50 in no time. Even with 2.73 gears that car really roles out.

The car runs good, I'm pretty proud of myself.

lol, car has 20 minutes of run time on it and he's already been into the 4's, lol.

Nice job dude, sounds like a solid ride. Make sure you punish the rings a little bit to make sure they're seated well, I'm sure you know the tricks.

Bet you can't wait to get her down to the track eh?

K

btw send me that video

what did you use to open the oil filter? How did you open it?

What will happen to the Jet? I'll trade a vintage willys grille and all the money in my savings for it. I'd give ya more if I had more. But I'm 18, going to school, and the Arabs have their hands in my wallet more than I approve of (reword: fuel prices). Maybe I'll to Plan K and send one of the twins your way, too?

congrats

Video is in my gallery.

Matt I opened the oil filter by using the vice and various other tools to pull and pry. The ghetto jet isn't going anywhere, but I am looking for a place to store it this winter.

Re: Welcome To The Hotel California

That is cool,it sounds like you are playing an Eagles album backwards.

Was that song playing while video was going? I must have uploaded the wrong clip.

Edit: Ok I just played the clip for myself through the link in my gallery. I uploaded the right clip. RCastle, it's really weird you mentioned Hotel California. I took a 25 second clip while walking around the white car, it wasn't running at that time but Hotel California was playing on the stereo while I was recording so it's the background music. Really strange Ron.

thanks for the clip! sounds good. is it radical or is that the quality? how much vacuum are you pulling and at what RPM?
The breaks in the sound are from the lope it has at idle. It doesn't really sound radical, but you know there is a cam in there.
