Hey, Nos
I didn't know they featured my truck till I read your post!
The paint job is the way I bought it ... it's called Dark Bronze - that's all I know, and it does describe the color ... but at night it looks like a dark cherry red. I get a lot of compliments on the color and I like it too, because it's nothing typical. I'll be getting some touch-up work done on the body this summer, so maybe I'll get a more accurate name for the color then.
The gas tank, thankfully!, was relocated before I bought the truck. Originally, the gas tank in a '54 Chevy sits behind the seat in the cab and I sure wouldn't be happy with that! The "new" tank is 30 gallons (!) and was placed where the spare tire use to be mounted, under the bed, in the back ... and they did a real nice job putting a filler-door in the rear fender, too. I want to side-mount the spare tire ... right now, it's just sittin' in the bed.
As far as seats, I'll be visiting the junk yard soon ... I'm thinking of bucket seats with cool power adjustments - hopefully I'll find a nice black pair that are in good shape. Then, I plan on designing a really cool console. I've already "started" it because, when I installed my Gennie shifter & hand brake, I had to build a raised (2 inches) "console" in order to mount the shifter boot -- the floor was too close to the tranny -- and if I go with buckets, I'll just add on to that. I'll probably build it with 1/8" plywood and cover that with foamcore and leather.
I like the idea of a console ... someplace to throw my cigs, a place to put a drink, a place to store CDs and other stuff. And I wouldn't consider anything but my own design. If your uncle is that cool with wood, you should definitely have him build you something and install it -- it'll mean a lot more than anything else.
PS - I like your truck, man! That's gonna be a sweet ride when you're done!
