I am thinking about building a mild 454 for my 74 gmc 3/4 ton 4x4. The truck has 3.73's with 36" tires and a 4 speed. I already have a fresh .030 over short block with stock flat top pistons. I have a few choices for heads.
1. oval ports with 235cc intake ports and 98cc combustion chambers
2. 781 oval ports around 265cc intake ports and 120cc chambers
3. round peanut port heads with 120cc chambers
I was thinking of using the small chamber heads to increase the compression a bit. I have headers and a Edelbrock performer intake for it. I was also thinking of using a comp thumpr cam([email protected]). Do you thimk this combo will make good power. I'm not going to buzz it real high and would like good mid range torque.
