Hey fellows

I've been trying to find an answer and i figured i would post y question on here. It has to do with the Butterly type hood scoops. What i am wondering is, is there a purpose to it other than looks? I know Funny cars run em, so maybe its not just for looks? Would it be to help keep the engine running at idle by choking some of the air?

Maybe its a stupid question but i still want to know the answer:embarrass

Thanx
Mike

The butterfly scoop derived from the Enderle mechanical fuel injection setup. The throttle linkage was connected to the butterflies and regulated the air going into the engine because the fuel was regulated by a mechanical fuel pump driven from the motor. Today on a different setup it can still serve the same purpose but it's mainly for looks.
