I recently put a 351 Windsorwith a C4 in my car and I am having trouble getting it to rev up. I originally thought it was fuel but i've ruled that out. Someone told me that my torque converter and flywheel could cause problems like this. When I first start the motor, it will rev right up for about 5 seconds and then it will bog around 2500rpm's and it almost sounds like it's getting too much fuel but I'm sure that isn't the problem. I know nothing about transmissions. I used a new converter and installed a shift kit from B&M before I installed it but other than that, it's stock. Could the converter cause a problem like this ?

When you installed the converter, did you seat the converter in the transmission while the TRANSMISSION WAS STILL ON THE GROUND? If you didn't, you have destroyed the converter and the transmission oil pump. And that will cause a motor not to turn over at all or to be very sluggish.

Try driving your car. If it won't move, drop the transmission and take a look at the converter snout looking for damage. Also, start the motor. If the motor runs fine without the transmission attached, rebuild your transmission. If the motor problem persists, then you know it is not a transmission problem.

Yes

I seated the converter in the transmission on the ground and then bolted it to the flywheel after I bolted the transmission to the motor. Nothing was binding and I made sure that the converter was completely in the trans before I bolted the trans to the motor. Pretty sure i'll have to pull the engine to get the trans off if I need to .
