got this cab visor from a parts house and after i stuck it on my truck is so freakin noisey from the wind blasting underneath it i cant freakin stand this g.d. thing! the people i've seen with them say they don't have this problem cause they are either louvered or have large areas cut out on the cab side. has anybody out there had any experience with these miserable things and whats the best option cutting out an area near the cab or louvering them. this blows (pun intended). also as you look at it from the front it aint level till you beat on one side and then it had the awdacity to go back to it's old shape! (yeah i know it's misspelled)

I usually cut an 1-2" gap between the cab and the visor, the air flows under and out the gap. Louvers look tacky on visors I think. Plus it will look out of place if their are no other louvers on the truck.

yeah, i thought that too, the tacky part, so how much steel do i leave on the cab side to maitain rigidity? i''m ready to go, this things drivin me nuts. saw your post re: your grill, are you SURE your from the deeep south and not the REEEEAAAALLLLY DEEEEEEP SOUTH? HA HA you're killin me with these new inventions of yours. but oh yeah, what got me interested was i made neon for 5 years in Reno and you mentioned using neon.was that in your grill or behind it? i got a stick behind my tempests grill and it looks **** , same color as my car. or are you using it AS your grill? hate to follow a truck on a dirt road!!but we wouldnt dare do that anyway! hey, dude, what holiday comes at the end of next month? do you have to dress up as anyTHING or just go as you are? :D

Depending on the grill I use different neon tubes. Depending on the effect the customer is looking for depends on how I mount the neon. I've used them behind as well as incorperate them in the grill with a protective sheild. You name it I've probably done it to get a cool effect. During my holiday I don't need to dress up, just go as I am, its the only time I blend in. I used to do special effect makeup and all the goulish goodies so I do a few of my friends faces, but for me theres no need. I'm 6'2 115-120lbs long hair and a few other oddities so its a lost cause to try to become something else.

As for your visor what I would do is cut out a moon shape, leave the metal by the cab intact just trim it from the center about an inch and taper it down as you get closer to the cab mount.

Best thing to do, is take it off and cut it up for patch panels on other projects. Sorry, just don't care for them and never seen one that didn't make a noise.

well it may end up coming off if it doesn't shut up. but i really like the way it looks. as far as this moon shape and the mounting brackets, this one is mounted all across the top with about 10 screws. my understanding of what you are suggesting - a moon shape -one- would extend from one side of the truck to the other. (hopefully by tomorrow my truck's picture will be on here if you need it.) i'm afraid that if i cut one slice all the way across the truck it will be so flimsy that it will flap in the breeze. is this what HK's talking about? and if so, then it must work okay, just want to verify this before i muck it up. i had been thinking about 3 or 4 cresent shaped slices across this sucker. that would give support at 2-3 places across the top. thoughts?

:D yes those are stars, i figure since i built a tank it might as well look like one. it's just etching primer over red oxide. i hope it wont rust underneath. i sprayed it before i knew that stuff wasn't watertight, had to sand it off, red oxide it again then drab it again. couldn't get behind the box tho, so i'll have to go back to bare metal before it's painted when i get rich. i'll go ahead and cut me some holes. guess i'm makin a trip to get more cut off wheels.check email for more neon questions. thanks for the ideas.

Ahhhhh one of THOSE, I despise those that mount all the way across. Your cresent moon idea works as well, but if they are noy big enough you will still get wind resistance noise. you can tune those suckers like a trumpet by cutting out areas. There will always be some sort of noise, but it will be cut down dramatically if the wind has somewhere to escape. I'll wait to see your truck before I comment again.

I was thinking of the visors that only mount on the sides, not all the way across. Your idea would be fine, cut two or three large cresent moons out of the visor enough to keep some rigidity, but let the air out. This won't slve your problem 100%, but it will help to cut down n the noise a bit. There will still be some noise, especially in the corners, but not as much as before I doubt. Nice truck, army drab green, and is that a star on the doors I see??? :D
