Heck, my 59A flathead has been on an engine stand for years waiting for me to use it for something other than a hat rack, and that's the half-bellhousing early style engine. Your 8BA could live on a stand forever, I imagine.

You might find it easier to work on if you make up a mounting plate that bolts in place of the exhaust manifold, using all the bolts. Works good for me, and you can get to the flywheel and clutch while it's on the stand.
