i have a 78 firebird formula and i already want to put new fenders on it and a guy wants to sell me some fiberglass fenders for a 70s model camaro if i get these will they fit on my car? i know i cant use the same front nose but if i get a front nose piece from an old camaro would it fit onto my firebird making it a camaro? Would i have to get new doors for the fenders to fit? What else would i have to replace? I would get a new hood of course because im putting a chevy 396 into it and the old hood has no clearance.

The two are both F bodies, so depending on the year of camaro I think they should swap out fine. The doors are basically the same, but your tailights won't be correct. Not sure on any under hood parts location off hand, but I do beleive they are identicle. swapping from a '78 formula firebird to a camaro, the camaro front would have to be 1975 on. Before '75 the camaro's rear window didn't wrap around. It can be done but it will be an odd contraption. Why not just stick with firbird stuff? A '78 formula could be very cool, and if hood clearance is a problem PM me and I can tell you how to solve that problem with a bit of sheetmetal work. Formulas are cool cars and can look very mean if given the chance. I have a '77 Trans-Am and the parts are pretty plentiful, just give the formula a chance if its possible.

personally I think the fire birds of those years were much better... but if you really want a camaro for the price of everything you want to do just buy a beat to hell one.. they are cheap... you can get one thats beat up for like 500 bucks or less... then stick your fiberglass stuff on there... then you have two cars also

No can do my friend. The only panels that are the same are the roof and the trunk. The camaro has a much more agressive body side angle and the t/a is more rounded. I wanted to install ta doors on my 79 a long time ago cause all the camaro doors i found were rotten.

My question is why?The camaros , although good looking cars are far too common.Every where you go , there they are.Id much rather have a nice firebird than a camaro, just because u dont see them all that often.

just my 2 cents

Firemaro????

Won't work.. :nono: The body lines are all different. Only the glass, roof, and trunk lid are interchangable. There's lots of reproduction sheetmetal out there for 2nd generation firebirds. It's alot cheaper and easier to buy the right parts in the first place...

Didn't even notice the date. :drunk: Don't know how I found it!! Not very computer savvy :smash: It bothered me to read that someone was trying to turn a Firebird into a Camaro, and had to do my civic duty and discourage someone form building a "Frankenstein" F-body, wasting a buttload of time and money..
