I have a 2007 impala ss fwd with the 5.3 … I was wondering it could be installed in a 1985 Chevy caprice, for the LS swap????
Bell housing on that fwd engine is like the 60 degree small V6 engine. I would suggest the common chevy V8 bell pattern LS engine

In order to get the small block to work with in a transverse, front-drive setup the LS4 used a shorter crankshaft and the starter motor was moved from its traditional location. The LS4 came mated exclusively to a four-speed automatic transmission and featured displacement on demand for improved fuel economy.

As noted by Austin there are a bunch of problems, but they can be overcome. On the LS site they give a run down on what needs to be done but they even say best to sell it and fine an LS. Solve lots of headaches and $$$$.
