Ihave a car that is putting about 400 hp to the flywheel. My problem is that when i punch it it will have good response but will soon bog and fall on its face untill it reaches a little bit higher rpm.

This Edelbrock is new, i had a 670 street avenger on there that didnt seem like it was doing the trick. My throttle response is a lot better now but the bogging down is really annoying. I have tried doing everthing with my timing with no luck. I was thinking that i need to lean it out a little by putting a little bit smaller jet and rod in it. Does this sound like a plan to anyone else? Thanks

Do you have the Edelbrock manual that came with the carb? If not, you can go to their website and read/download it. It will give you a very good run down on how to tune the bog or hesitation out of the carb. It's a MUST for any Edelbrock owner

Before you try jets and rods, however, I would try changing the springs. I had a hesitation when I stood on it with my 750. In fact, I would get a backfire through the carb. I swapped out the stock springs for the blue springs (you can get the spring kit from Edelbrock for a couple bucks or at your local speed shop if you have one nearby.) and my backfire/hesitation went away. I tried moving to the next leaner rod/jet combination (a suggestion made by Edelbrock tech support) but it didn't have any impact.

Also, you can change the a mount of "squirt" on the accelerator pump by moving the rod to different holes (some of the settings require you to bend the rod slightly - which is okay according to the manual.)

Its a H.O. 350 crate engine with a LT4 hotcam roller kit in it. I wrap it up every once in a while to about 6000.

As far as the Edelbog goes i have had my share of trouble with the Holly street avenger that i had also. So i think it just depends on a persons application. Even with the slight bog the Edelbrock has a lot better throttle response than the Holly.

I have a edel 750 and great success whit it...

You may have to buy the rod/spring/jet kit for your carb model but after you have tuned it well they rock's !

Btw i will go whit a supercharger this winter and have to get a holley 4150 HP to put on it since the edelb will not handle the presure (not build for that)...


But i like my 750 edelb.. Great carb on my 350sbc 420HP !


ps: if you run an electric pump, do you have a return line to the tank ?

Well, in my opinion, the 670 would have been the better choice out of the 2, actually, Id probably use a Demon 625.
But,regardless, youve got a 750 CFM Holley with a big dead spot.
Try adjusting the accelerator pump, there are 3 positions .
Im bettin it runs OK unless you nail it at low rpm.
You may also want to get a 1 or 2 inch 4 hole spacer, it will increase the signal in the plenum to try to correct for the big carb.

I hate the fact that Edie carbs don't have adjustable secondary air ram. I''ve ground the wieghts down to change it but's it very time consuming and if you go to far...

Is your edelbrock/carter a ABS or AVS ? the later has a more tunable secondery air valve.
On the ABS unit you mite try changing the angle between the weights and the air flaps.
The lower down the weights are the more easyly the air valve will tip in.
If you can get the air flaps above the seconderys to tip in later the "bog" should go away.
If you try to cover the bog by ajusting jets,rods & springs you'ii probley end up being fat on the primary side to compensate for going lean (to much air valve opening) on the secondry side.

when i got my new Edelbrock carb it dident bog.....Now it does lol, i guessing bcz its been throught 3 hurricanes wit h no hood :pain: :spank:
