Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages. Cost vs. Complexity vs. Reliabilty vs. HP goals vs. Fuel efficiency are just some of the things to consider. If you are going to be maintaining either system what is your comfort level with both?

If you want to stick to a known set-up (stock or just like your buddy's sweet runner) a carb is quick and painless. If you want to play mix and match with cams, gears, etc, the EFI (one that lets you do tuning) is my far the easier in the long run. Avoid the bottom rung "completely self tuning" systems that have no parameter access and always FOLLOW the installation instructions.
