Carpet installation and Gas Pedal?

Putting a new carpet into my 1988 Brougham Flower Car. The gas pedal is secured to the floor on the bottom of the pedal. Before I try putting a wrench onto anything I'm going to ask a question. Do these two ball studs screw off? It appears that the carpet is located under it.

I figured it out. 13mm deep socket.

They should unscrew, which you've already discovered. I'm pretty sure that o. The body of a 1988 Cadillac, they'll be 12.7mm (1/2 inch). 13mm is close enough.
