Engine is Chevy 350 has a Holley 2b carb

Help build 350-400 horsepower.

Combos if possible hoping to reach over 350 HP.

Low budget $1,000

Decisions if I get edelbrock or other known brands for my project.

Heads? Headers? Cam? Exhaust ? Manifold?

#valuable knowledge is appreciated. :smash:

Would need to know what this is starting from:

- Cam timing and lift

- Head casting numbers and valve sizes

- What pistons

- What intake

- What ignition

- What is the exhaust system

??????

would be good starting data, 1000 bucks doesn't go very far these days

Let's assume stock 70's-early 80's short block? Its currently running well?

I did this very build not long ago for a dirt ball budget 77 vette I owned. Car was a blast and went 13 teens with the current owner many times this summer.

Stock block, mileage unknown, stock dish pistons
GM 416 heads, (305 heads), heavily ported at home, my first attempt, wasnt super difficult.
Fel pro 0.015 shim head gasket.
Used performer intake (cracked and fixed with jb weld) (would use a performer rpm but the performer I already had)
Stock Qjet Carb with 1" spacer
Shorty headers
Lunati bare bones cam and lifters
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/lun-10120101lk
$100 shorty headers.
Never ran hot, was dead reliable, and an honest 350hp
I had about $400 in the entire motor.
Buy the cam new, the rest can be bought used cheap, sometimes even free.
Enjoy it while you save for a "real motor" down the road.

The engine is a 1970 SBC 350 "all stock" except - it has a Holley 4 barrel carburetor and headers (unknown brand) everything else is original.

till it broke something in the rear.

half shaft U joint no doubt. ;)
Yep, and then was fixed, and sold again lol, I'm in contact with the new owner but he is an odd dude. He bough it as an "investment" and isn't diving it much at all lol. I don't have the heart to tell him I pulled it out of a field and had 2k in the entire car.

C-3 as an investment or a place to spend a tonne of money with small return?
I suspect the latter lol.....hey, I hated those cars until I had a reasonbly quick one, if I had money I would have another and likely spend lots on it. It was a riot to drive.

Maybe you should have kept it. You can do a lot with those cars.
(I used to restore those C3 Vettes)
It was a total pail, needed a bird cage, rad support, and a rear wheel bearing.....around here they are cheap, 9k will buy you a well restored one, 5-6k will get you a decent rust free driver.with the 2 kids it just didn't make sense now lol. Someday
