There is not alot of difference between an 041 head and an 041X head. I'm not really even sure if the runner size is any different or not. There might be 5 CC intake runner difference.

Anyway, these are pretty good heads, as long as they are prepared correctly. They are virtually identical in design to the 462 head, the 291 head, and the 186 head.

You ought to be able to buy those off of Ebay for four hundred bills. I wouldn't give any more unless they were professionally ported and flowed.

HG,

NAIRB is correct. GM had some "X" heads that were slightly larger port-wise. (One has to ask why they didn't make them all X's, but only GM knows.)

Anyway, these are good heavy castings, with accessory holes. They are also almost identical to the "camelback"/ "fuelie"/ "turbo" heads that everyone talks about.

The last set of similar heads I had redone cost me $200 just for the machining work. If you add in the cost of the valves, springs, guide plates, etc and the inital cost of the heads themselves, I feel that is a pretty good price. Plus in this case, there's no shipping cost.

The casting in the quench area looks very rough compared to all the other work done.
A little more $$$ and you can have a new set from most Manufactures and have better everything, since they have been milled you may have to mill the intake to match.
The price is still being bid upon so the final price will be over $500. you should be able to get some World or Dart M heads for close to the same cost and allot better.
LOL

If you could get them for the price they are now, it might not be a bad deal. By the time the auction ends, you will probably be better off with a set of SR torquers that are brand new with about the same parts. I dont really think that .010 off the deck will cause any issues with alignment.
