I have a edelbrock750 performer series carb with electric choke, in the morning when I try to start it the choke plate will not close, making it hard to start when I close it manually it will start right up, I push the accelerator down to set the choke but the plate will not close any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, also when I set it manually the plate opens up as it gets warm. thank you.

If it isn't closing it isn't the heating element, that makes the choke
open. When its cold and you set it manually do you feel spring tension
on the choke plate ? have you checked the linkage if its binding ?
is the choke adjustable "lean/rich" or is the black
cover pop riveted ?

I can feel tension on the spring inside the choke housing because I unhooked the linkage rod and moved it and I could feel tension and the choke is adjustable I set that it opens up as the engine warms up.thanks for reply.

It's unclear if you solved your problem or not.

If not, I would take the choke cover off and make sure it's clean inside. I've seen housings full of soot and junk.

With the cover off, work the lever inside to see if it's binding somewhere. When you replace the cover, turn it so the tension just closes the choke plate (cold). You can adjust it as necessary weather-wise from there.
