I was wondering if some of the guys in here (particularly the ones over 35) have every experienced severe fatigue on a regular basis.

I have been suffering from it and I can't explain it. Like today for example, I slept good last night, but all day long I just drag and it feels like huge weights are hanging under my eyes. My entire body hurts. I used to have tons of energy, but any more I find myself fighting this every week. I might have two good days during the week, that's it. I just feel exhausted all the time.

Go see your doctor. It could be your thyroid and there is a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Either way, a doc can help you out.

Yes, go see the doc! Have you ever had mono? Like BBB said, could be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome due to EBV.

Rock on and God bless...

Nairb,

I have constant stress, mostly my job and my body doesn't react to the stess well anymore. I feel fatigue, aches in my joints and lack of focus in performing tasks.

Good advice from the others in seeing a doc.

I make sure I eat as best as possible, take a little time for myself and workout daily.

Brian-
Your going to think I'm nuts (Probably do already, but...), but try accupuncture. I was going for my tendonitis and econdolitis, and mentioned it to her. She did this this call "quashaw". Which, simply put was rubbing vics on my back, and scraping it off in patterns with a spoon. Did NOT feel all that great, but man, I could do backflips for weeks. Maybe it was in my head, who knows, but it works.

My best guess? Stress at Work. Running your own business, as you know, takes 24 hours a day toll on your body. The cure? Find a way to play HARD. Any physical activity you enjoy. I personally would recommend having the wife/girlfriend participate ! :pimp: If you know what I'm saying ! Or something NEW like racketball, 4 wheeling in deep mud, flyfishing, mountain biking, etc. OR,, there's another homeopathic therapy... Take 100 One dollar bills, lick the end of the bill, and place them on your forehead, one at a time. Have a rather attractive , large busted, lady remove them from your forehead with parts of her anatomy. Generally puts a smile on MY face! :D :D :D

Well, I am not there yet, but I think that one thing that most people dont do is keep their body in shape. I am a huge proponent of putting yourself on a workout schedule at least 3 days a week. It will be hard to drag yourself through it, but once you get used to it you will feel your energy levels come up. This is especially important as you age since your metabolism and strength levels are on a slow but constant decline as you get older.

When my dad was in his 30's he started working out and said it took away all the pains and that he had alot more energy. Of course he did not stick with it.

Just my .02.

Age just catching up. All the working hard, playing hard finally catched up in the later 30's early 40's. Just a few years ago I felt like I could do almost anything. Now at 48 the ole' arthur is getting me down, work does not go as fast as it used to, sleep is not an all night thing anymore, stress at work adds to everything. It's just a part of getting older I think. My father was/is the same way I just described. A few years ago I never understood why he had hard time sleeping etc, now I know.

Amen to that. I went from 300+lbs and sleeping 10+ hours day to working out daily, weighing about 202 and sleeping 5-6 hours per day.

A had a GF that chronic fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. She could not work a steady job or even drive across town. It kind of makes you glad for what you do have ( or don't have )

I've had it as well as FMS and TMJ between 99 and 2002.

Stress was THE factor, affecting sleep. If the body doesn't get good sleep, the physiogical process that build muscle cells are dimished causing many side affects. The body can only rebuild during Delta sleep, which with me, was not happening. I never had dreams because I never went past Alpha sleep. I was tired and had arthritis-like pain all the time. I went to the doctor and had all kinds of tests which all came out negative.

I figured out it was the psycho-ex girlfriend causing the stress, so I got rid of her and got better in 3 months and today I have no pain at all and don't take any medications. It's in the past...

With CFS and FMS, sometimes it's next to impossible to get rid of the cause. Or, for example, a wife is causing the stress, the solution may be hard to take (i.e. divorce).

Regardless, there are drugs that can help, but the hard part is finding a doctor that's good.

IM me for more info if you want.

Fatigue

Ok, first go to a doctor that you have some respect for and make sure that there is nothing of a serious nature wrong. This will accomplish two things, first it will rule out disease and second it will put your mind at ease. If this checks out negative then look at anxiety or depression as a possibility. These are not problems that are just for the weak minded etc. so get over whatever stigma you may attach to them and do some research on the problem. Your symptoms could be a disease of the body or a symptom of either of these conditions.
If your MD wants to prescribe anti-depressants such as Zoloft, Prozac etc. or ANY Benzodiazepine such as Xanax, Paxil, Klonapin etc. Do a LOT of research on these before agreeing to take them. Either of these types of meds can produce wide-ranging side effects that are as bad as, or worse than the original problem. In addition the Benzodiazepines are EXTREMELY addictive and the withdrawals are supposedly worse than heroin withdrawals.
If it gets down to the anti-depressant, benzodiazepine prescription contact me and I can aim you toward some web-sites that address these drugs.
Best of luck with this, trust me I know what you're talking about. MH

I feel your pain!!! Lot of good advice here Brian. See the doctor. There are forums about CFS and links to many helpful sites like www.WebMD.com. I caught a cold 3 yrs ago which developed into the flu, which developed into pneumonia, which affected my thyroid, which gave me symptoms of FM and CFS. Doctor diagnosed Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome and prescribed medication to level off my thyroid function. I just recently found out the medication could have caused heart problems and I am not taking it anymore. 4 and a half yrs ago I injured my back and couldn't do anything because of the injury. Doctor thinks that the thyroid problem may have been a existing condition may have developed due to the trauma to the body from the back injury. Dont expect definite answers from the doctor and/or specialists. I've learned there is a lot of gray areas in the diagnosis of FM, CFS, and Thyroid conditions.

Sam,
No stress though, huh? 1 oz a week? Able to think enough to breathe? LOL

1) Thyroids
2) Diabetes

For me it turned out to be both. If it's thyroids your lucky, all you gotta do is take a pill a day every morning and that's it.

If it's Diabetes your less fortunate. This is where needles, blood glucose measuring, specific diets and a healthier lyfestile kick in.

Hope it's thyroids, you don't wanna have diabetes.

Not to be too much of a drag but...

My Mom was diagnosed with CFS in like 1993 and was treated for it with no luck until 1995 when they discovered she actually had Rectal Cancer, which ended up taking her life in 1997.

If you have not done so yet please go see a competent MD. Have your prostate checked, and all of the above mentioned problem areas.

I hope everything works out for you.

S L O W I N G down are we?

Get your testosterone tested, might be low...how old are you anyway? Testosterone levels start dropping after you turn 18, its all down hill from there.
