Is it possible to clean a catalytic converter while it is still on the car? I have a ford escape and it's the one on the backside of the engine and I can't get it off.

NO. Those are notorious for the cores melting down. You probably need a new one.

Ayuh,... Unless ya consider cleanin' it by drivin' a pipe Through it, 'n knockin' the guts outa it....

It'll be Clean, but it won't pass an inspection test...

my son had a pluged cat on his '05 escape. turned out to be 2 so we replaced all 3... $3000 at dealership... make sure your coil packs are working right... the fronts on his engine were going so he replaced them all...
