i want to clean the inside headlights lens on my mercury mystique.it makes my car look old and ugly.they should look clear but there yellow.. they get yellow over time...i see this on only late 80s and eary 90s FORDS (i seen them mostly on taurus,aerostars, explores.)
i have a 96 mercury mystique its just like a ford contour.
can some one tell me anything i can do to get them looking clear again.. insead of buying new headlight lens.

The lenses are available from ford, they are relatively easy to replace. the biggest problem is that you have to remove the front bumper (and as far as i remember that involves removeing the plastic inner fenders in the front wheel wells and beneath the engine)

Once the bumper is off you can get at the bottom clips holding the glass on the lamp assembly together. But once the bumper is off it is simply a matter of removing 6 metal clips and pulling the glass lens. and simply snapping the old lexan lenses out and snapping the new ones in. and re-assembling the lamps and mounting the bumper.

all in all you should have about an hour of work and 20-30 bucks in parts into the repair.
