Question for Barryk: I have a new project. Its a 48 studebaker ton and a half barn find with 22000 miles on it. It has great patina and signage and I think the best way to preserve it would be to clear coat. But I dont want it to look clear coated. Do I add a flattening agent or is there a better way? Also how should I prep it for the clear? thank you

I can give an example of a patina job with a SPI flattened clear.

I used one of Barry's products that I don't see listed now, but I see he still sells the flattener I used on this job. I trust his judgement, and he advised me on this job to get as close as possible to a "full flat" finish.

If he doesn't find your message, just give him a call. The tech line number is on the SPI website.

The patina on this project is not real. It is all paint... but you can see the appeareance with the SPI finish.
