i have always heard people say well my car or truck is hot natured or cold natured but is there any truth in what they was saying or is it just hear say

never heard of that................Does it mean that an engine is prone to run either hot or cold?

I think that temp gauges just don't read right.

My father used to use the term "Cold Natured", for him it meant that the choke wasn't adjusted properly and the motor ran poorly until it got warmed up.

The engine's temperature is a function of heat in minus heat out. The engine puts it in and the radiator takes it out. Some have overkill radiators and some have barely enough so I would think that plays a large role.

That term is used pretty freely around here to mean

"the carb doesn't work and I'm to dumb figure it out so it must be cold natured"
