Recently i have just swapped my old 85 chevy 262 for a 77 chevy 350. The distributer i bought for the 77 doesn't have the wire to connect to my 85 wiring for the computer. Should i buy the HEI wire for the distributer, or do i even need the computer hooked up?

Won't work Dude!!

Why would you connect the computer from your old 262 to a 350? They are not the same and you will need the computer for the 350 and not just hook up the one from the 262. Find a donor car and pull the parts off it or go to the junk yard and buy what you need.

Doc here :pimp:

Being as this is an 85...you are going to have to smog it if you want to drive it on the street.

This means, you MUST have all the equipment that was manufactured for an 85 350 in place and functioning or it won't pass the visual, much less the sniffer test.

Go to the Bone yard and find an 85 GM 350 and strip the computer, harness, sensors and any "Hardware" that may be required to make the system run, like manifold/header pipes for o2 sensors, ported manifold valves, distributor, and the like...

And don't forget the Catalytic Converter...you'll need that too.

Hook it all up in your car and test it for proper operation, then before "TAG" time, take it down and get a pre~test done on the smog, see what if anything needs repair.

Good luck...
