I need some advise with the engine conversion I am doing with my FJ60 '87 Toyota Land Cruiser. I am using Advanced Adapters Kit to install a Chevy 350 small block in the Cruiser. I have the engine in the vehicle an in the process of connecting the fuel lines to the carb. The carb I am using is an Edelbrock #1400 that has a fuel vapor canister port. The fuel pump is a stock mechanical pump with an input and output connection, it does not have a return line port. The Toyota has a charcoal canister with a vent inlet from the tank and two ports that were valve controlled and connected to the old carb. It has a return line also with a sealed fuel cap. My problem is the canister is bulky and would be a pain to try and reinstall and connect the various lines. I need to control fuel vapor around the engine compartment. I am sure this conversion has been done numerous times but I am having a hard time reaching the best way to complete the process. Can anyone help with my problem?

Just hook up the main fuel vapor canister hose to the back of the carb or the NPT threaded manifold vacuum port between the carb and the distributor and plug the other canister hoses, or just rip out the canister altogether and plug the hose going back to the tank.

If you need a fuel return line to your tank, just get a '73 vette fuel pump— it has a 5/16 (8mm) outlet.

As for the fuel delivery (3/8") line from the pump to the Edelbrock carb, use the vette part, or make one out of brake-line w/fittings from Napa and bend it any way you want. Finish up with a 3/8" compression/barbed nipple (Napa), a piece of fuel hose and a in-line filter.

Make a bracket from a piece of steel or aluminum bolted to the top of the manifold or even the front of the head and a 5/8" rubber padded clamp to secure the top of your steel fuel line.

I also put an in-line filter after the tank or just before the fuel pump.
