If you are building a high compression motor, you need to be concerned with head quench. Most first time builders do not know to question this issue, but it is quite critical that you get it right because getting it wrong can be damaging to the motor. Rather than ramble on about a subject I understand less than do the experts, I am just going to give you a link to a company that has a very nice dissertation on the subject.

Thanks F1, good article about the subject. Many people don't understand why quench is important on a wedge chamber engine. A very good reason why it is usually recommended to 0 deck your pistons in the block, that way your quench zone is taken care of with the gasket thickness. Thanks for the link.
