I am installing a large Daytona type hood scoop on my 82 ElCamino. Do I have to cut out the whole area under the scoop, or just where the air cleaner comes up? I am worried about weakening the hood. Thanks.

just cut enough for the air cleaner then seal the base of the air cleaner to the underside of the hood with weatherstripping, this will make the scoop work
