Hey guys. Sam Hawley here, author of the land speed books "Speed Duel: The Inside Story of the Land Speed Record in the Sixties," and most recently Craig Breedlove's authorized biography, "Ultimate Speed." Just a heads-up that I'm making a new LAND SPEED LEGENDS series that you might like. Here's Episode 1, on "Craig Breedlove's Spirit of America Secret Weapon." (Teaser: How could Craig Breedlove and SOA be connected to Dan Gurney and the Indy 500?)

Great stuff Bill!!. Yes those were great times. i was a teenager then and we followed all the Bonneville stuff with a air of itament knowledge. Hot rod Magazine! Growing up in the San Fernando Valley we saw newspaper articles about "local boy" Breedlove and that was a source of info. He turned up in the Times and the Valley news with some regularity. Neat stuff. Here's a question maybe you can answer. What was Breedloves relationship with Bowman Nurseries in Malibu. I can't remember for sure. Looking forward to more videos!

Thanks

Craig's step-dad was Ken Bowman. Ken started a nursery business (with Craig's mom Portia) when Craig was in his teens; initially in the backyard, growing African violets, then they expanded. I assume Bowman Nurseries was Ken's business.

My next video will be on "Art Arfons' Coolest Record." Stayed tuned!

Yes that's what I remembered. We used to pass it when exiting Malibu Canyon Road on to the PCH.
