were there both types of dampner for a 57 283.One with the single pulley riveted on and one with a bolt on.I always thought it was riveted,but I bought two One riveted and one
bolted.Are they both correct.

Never seen a pulley that was riveted to the balancer before. Was that factory or some cobble job?

I checked the dampener on my 57 engine and it has a riveted pulley. Then checked 57 Restorer's manual. They show a bolted on pulley in the engine dismantle procedure but a riveted on pulley on the reassembly stage of the build, so I would say the bolt on is incorrect for a factory correct engine...but who cares otherwise.
