OK, so I haven't been working on my new project as much as I thought I would. (I haven't done anything yet :spank: ) but I am tired of using vice grips to pull out the broken dipstick to check the oil. There's no stop at the top of it, so I also don't know if I'm getting an accurate reading.

I have a 64 Fairlane with a 289. Will any of the pretty chrome SBF dipsticks they sell on ebay work, or is it possible that I need a special one? I don't need chrome, but I can't find any that are not.

Any help would be appreciated.

You might still be able to get one from Ford....at least they should be able to tell you how long it is supposed to be from the tip to the stop.
