Disappointed but Appreciative!

When I first came across this site I was pretty excited after reading over the posts. I thought "Hey, I finally found a site that might actually help me answer some questions that I had, that no one else had been willing to." So I registered, introduced myself, and asked my question. Only to once again be disappointed. Out of all the users I see listed, only one was willing to take just a moment of their time and offer help.
Thank you tm454 for taking that moment! And thank you for directing me to ChevyTalk. Not only have they welcomed me openly. But they like you, were willing to take a moment of their time to offer help and direction. So I owe you one Taz.
As for anyone who might want to chastise tm454 for leading someone away from this site to another; consider this...it was'nt his fault. It was your own unwillingness to sacrifice a few minutes that prompted me to bail. Fact is, I desperately needed help, and no one here seemed willing to offer it.

Come back

Give us a chance. WE DO HELP when we can. This is really a great site. I personally did not see your post so I don't know if I could have helped you or not. I try to help when I can.

Al
In the words of Al Bundy…”Pardon me if I don’t cry for you, Argentina…” But what more do you want? Someone DID help you! They directed you to a site that would have knowledgeable people in the area you requested help in. People DID try to help you in your introduction thread as well. So it’s not like your plea for help went unnoticed.

Señor
You got help from TM454 on this site and none of us helped you?

I don't get it?

Isn't a "Torque Drive" just another name for a Powerglide, here's a supplier of old trans parts if you still need it.

Antique transmission parts.

P.S. I found this info with a 10 minute Google search, give it a try...works great.:)
i love this site

i only have like 100 posts or so but usually every time i ask a question i get anwered. sometimes not. i found that the search button helps alot, weather on this site or at google the search button is great. sometimes i have asked a question that has already been answered alot and nobody wants to help, then someone will come along and say that is an old question try the search button. that could be why some people are not answering your question. they dont have time too keep telling info that is easly found. i dont know what your question was but if it couldnt be found with searching then im sure someone would have seen your post within time and helped you. its also good to post in the right threads. i am a member at different web sites and ususally when i cant get an answer i come here. this is a really great web site. lots of people that know their stuff. im kind of new to perfomance cars. i used to be into stereo stuff that goes boom boom but then i got a car that had some power and i was like who needs a radio when you have a nice sounding motor. i have learned alot from hotrodders.com. i dont think i'll ever stop coming here. thats gotta suck for you guys:D you'll never get rid of me!!! NEVER!!!! hahaha

Thanks guys for the responses.

I'm not having any real probs. with the tranny,

Going through your posts, I can see that 3 different people tried to help you out, myself included.

The fact that you were posting in the wrong forums might have something to do with the lack of responses.
Looks like several people tried to help you out...Maybe you just didn't get the answer that you were looking for?! Maybe you already knew the answer that you were looking for?! I saw that you had a vague question, 6 or so people responded...that wasn't enough, so now you are complaining.
We managed to survive before you came along...I think that we will do okay if you decide not to stay. You really should try to sit back and check out the site before you bust in the door with a "Pissy, Look at me!" attitude.
Here are a couple of other sources of info that may be useful to you.

Uh, this isn't the state unemployment office here, we're not paid to argue about the earned income tax credit or anything man, its not that complicated! First of all, the transmission forum doesn't get more than maybe a couple dozen visiters a day. I, for one, have adopted a policy not to answer anything that I don't have a good answer to! I've never heard of a torque drive tranny in my life! I guess I could have posted that... sorta seemed rediculous.

This isn't a public service, and we're not your employees. We do WHAT we can WHEN we can. The cool thing about this forum is that some have knowledge in certain areas, some in others. Maybe we should chastise the guys who are trans experts not for taking time out of their busy days at the exact date that you posted?

I never understood how anybody could gripe about FREE SERVICE!

Not sure where this is coming from, many members posted in assistance.

Actually member "Advanced Design" gave you a link to ChevyTalk.com in your original post in the introduction forum. Here's the link to your first post.

You registered at Chevytalk.com 22hr's after joining here and posted this thread in the proper forum but your first post was in the intro forum, yet received no help there?

I could spend all day dissecting this complaint but in reality you got the help you needed (within 24hr's)and were even given links to another forum by multiple members in an attempt to assist you. This is not a competition as both websites offer different resources to it's members, did you notice you can't search the forums at Chevytalk.com without registering?. This is primarily a Hotrod website and your particular combination of components are not the typical hotrodders setup, I'm sure if your question was about hotrodding your trans there would have been more interest in your posts.

Congrats to the multiple members that took the time to help this new member, we thank you for your time even if the original poster does not.:(

I would have responded but you didn't aks a DeSoto question so I thought I'd keep my trap shut. Didn't do any good did it. :D
I look at ChevyTalk, at times, but seldom post threads there because you could die of old age before someone gets back to you.

I've had credible and responsive answers within 5 minutes here. When I've posted on other boards, I got answers like, "Duh, I can't really help you man".

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
