I have a 350 chevy engine which I switched out an old intake and carb. and bolted down a eldebrock highrise intake and and eldebrock carb. I am having problems getting it to run. I cant even get it to backfire. I set my timing at 10 degrees above tdc, then inserted my distributor with the rotor pointing towards the #5 cylinder, slid it in and put my wires on in firing order. I'm getting spark, but indication of the engine starting. Any Suggestions?

Turn your engine to 0 degrees on the #1 compression stroke, and set the distributer with the rotor aiming at the #1 plug wire on the cap...............

BTW...moving this to the engine forum.
