this is figuring 1963 170 with automatic
do u have any idea what the gap for the plugs are.iv got all that info from the other time that we talked.have heard difernt from other sores and was just tring to confirm it all pep boys told me 16 on that gap and another guy said the same .u and another guy bouth said 25.im going to buy all new points, wires,to see if that going to make adifferance withall that shaking and not being able to idle at the right timing mark.iv read alot about these points aand that seams to be the problem going to try tomarrow.thanks for your help .I hope i can get this thing on the road.

From your description of a rough idle, just make sure your harmonic balancer has not spun.

IIRC the engine spins clockwise, and the balancer will continue turning clockwise, when you turn it off, and it is worn out. This will cause you to retard the timing too much, resulting in a miss-fire.
