I am going to put a 2201 hyd roller cam in my 400 SB. I have gone to the Edelbrock site and reviewed the table of recommended associated parts. one thing that is not mentioned is valve springs. What is you guys opinion on using the stock valve springs on this application? the package from Summit; cam, lifters, roller chain, is around $750. I know springs would not take the cost up much but I am not going to do it if the the springs will work ok. Also will I have to change the push rods? The Web site does not mention it.
thanks for any advice David Bodily

Your putting this all in an engine that originally had a roller cam in it? What year block is this? Just make sure you dont need a retrofit kit and all that as well.

Thanks for the input. The engine is a 76 and the cam (#2201) is designed for this application. I know the recommended lifters have tie-bars because it is a retro-fit. David Bodily
