I currently have an edelbrock performer intake w/ egr on my engine. The idle air control on the throttle body is in the way of installing my egr valve. My problem is i put my snap on scanner on the truck and it is reading 14.5,6,7,8,9 air fuel ratio. I am thinking this is due to the egr valve or at least contributing to it. I am wondering if the edelbrock intake will flow much better than my stock throttle body intake if it was port matched to the cylinder heads. Also I don't think I can get enough vacuum from the throttle body to run the pvc valve and the brake booster and the stock throttle body draws the intake for the brake booster just below the throttle body. Will my engine perform different with the edlebrock intake over the stock intake.

The stock throttle body flows 390-ish cfm. Intake restrictions aren't something I'd worry about Stock intake won't hold you back.

could i get some more opinions on this subject. I am not worried about what the stock throttle body flows because someday I would like to put a holley throttle body on it

Well, one thing you might want to think about is an old police Impala, that has a TBI, my friend got one at a police auction for $450.00 took the tbi off it had a 500 cfm throttle body on it. He swapped everything over to a `88 K5 blazer and it woke it up.

while I fully believe that his caprice had a big block TBI on it, that was not standard issue. Police cars got the same exact TBI that civilian cars did. I just don't want the OP to run out and buy a police TBI and expect miracles .

my question more less is if the edelbrock performer intake would make much difference in performance. Lets say I have a holley 670 cfm throttle body on my truck, would I notice much difference with the edelbrock performer intake over the stock tbi intake.

With improved TB flow, you will notice some seat-of-the-pants improvement with the performer. Low and mid-range torque will be improved and you should be able to squeeze another 10-ish hp out of it. But, with the stock TBI on there, you could swap any intake you wanted and probably not really get any gains over a stocker since the stock TBI is the big limiting factor in that combo.

Just a note to this old post..cop cars DID NOT get a bigger TBI unit, its the same as any other TBI 350. They just got 65LbHR injectors instead of the 55 the trucks got
