Welcome to Hotrodders. This is the Introduction forum....your question needs to be in the Engine forum. But here ya go anyway. This is for SBC's with hydraulic lifters. (1.) Set No. 1 cylinder to Top dead center ( timing mark at 0 on the compression stroke.) ( 2.) Adjust Nos. 1,2,5,7 Intake valves. Adjust Nos. 1, 3, 4, 8 Exhaust valves. ( 3.) Set No. 6 piston to Top dead center ( turn the engine over by hand exactly one revolution, the timing mark will again be at 0 ). ( 4. ) Adjust Nos. 3, 4, 6, 8 Intake valves Adjust Nos. 2, 5, 6, 7 Exhaust valves. ( 5. ) To properly adjust valves: Tighten the rocker arm untill there is no up and down movement in the pushrod. Then tighten another 3/4 of a turn.
