Alright you engine guys...here's a question for you?

In most of the decent running SBC's that I've seen and heard...they have this distinct sound coming from them.....

A "clickity, clickity, clickity, clickity, click...." as they idle.

What causes this? And what is your take on it...

Love it or hate it?

Roller rockers tend to make a tapping sound but I think you're talking about a nice lopey cam.

I think it's the good 'ol meaty cam/header combo, that you're hearing on most SBC's. Gotta love that sound!

Rock on and God bless...

I've noticed a "chirping" noise at the track, usually on a bbc, and every time on a roller motor. never noticed it on a sbc though.

"Anti-pump" hydraulic lifters will make a fair amount of cliking/ticking noises unless it's at WOT. BTW I couldn't get the link to the soundclip to work.
