I have a SBC 350 that does'nt have numbers stamped on it, but it does have a rivetted badge on it. The numbers read 55181 RC26A. Any help? Thanks.

Some rebuilders do that.

Did you look at the rear of the motor, just below the drivers side head, where the tranny bolts up. Should be a 7 or 8 digit # or possibly 5.7 in raised numbers.

No, I didn't check there before I installed the engine. Here is a picture of the badge. If that helps.

Did you look on the right hand side there is a smooth pad where the head meets the block on front.

That tag was put on by a rebuilder shop.
