2001 silverado engine.... 8.1 liter. 496 cubic inch. If the cylinder is bored out .030 over, what is the new cubic inch size.

Quick and dirty formula for 8 cylinder engines only -- Bore X Bore X Stroke X 6.2832 = cubic inches.

I think stock bore and stroke are 4.44" X 4.0" but could be 4.310" X 4.25"

Stock 8,1L-- 4.44 X 4.44 X 4.0 X 6.2834 = 495.457 (496)

.030" overbore -- 4.47 X 4.47 X 4.0 X 6.2832 = 502.17 (502)

The formula is correct but I may be wrong on how GM makes the 496 (bore and stroke, there are two ways to do it)

The .030" overbore will add 6 cubic inches either way.
