Need some help on a engine swap taking out a tuned port v 6 from a 84 camaro and want to put back a 1997 5.7 vortex engine.#1 Do i need to put
heavier springs on the front.#2 is the rear end heavy enough to stand the
v8. i will run 700r tranny.I will run carburetor no electronics. Any help will be
appreciated.thanks Tom

The 10 bolt rearends on all 3rdgen F bodies were the same for v6 or V8.

Front suspension is different though between V8 and v6, not just springs.

May want to check into www.thirdgen.org for additional help.

the weight difference shouldn't be that drastic. 150lbs. max so find someone about that size to sit on your front bumper while you still have the v6 in it to see what it will look like with the v8. as for what it will do to the handling. it will take a very brave person and alot of duct tape to keep them inplace while you take it thru the curveys. the trans. and rearend should be ok as long as the motor isn't too radical.
