the engine is a 305 chevy its in a 59 impala with a powerglide automatic transmission the engine shuts off when its put in to gear. it starts up and idles good but it dies when put in to drive. i have double checked the timing, adjusted the valves, checked my points, adjusted my carb, and even changed my intake because it is still not pulling enough vacuum its pulling about ten when it should be at twenty.
ALL THAT CHECKING THE TIMING AND SUCH IS A WASTE OF TIME I THINK. A PROBLEM LIKE THAT IS ALMOST ALWAYS ELECTRICAL. LIKE A DEAD SHORT. WHEN IT DIES LEAVE THE KEY ON AND DO SOME DIAGNOSTICS SEE IF THERE IS POWER TO THE MONINT SEE IF THE COIL IS HOT LOOK FOR A SHORT IN YOUR HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM
