20 gauge sheet is readily available and works well for most of what we do..Some use 19 gauge and one can use 24 gauge..As you become more accustomed to making parts you may make other choices..

The guys from Imperial Wheeling Machines usually go to Carlisle with machines. Kerry and the guys are very helpful. I see that you're from Jersey so maybe you go to carlisle.
Make sure that you use cold rolled steel. The scale on hot rolled will mark up the wheels.
