I am working with OBD II PCM on '96 LT1 engine. I'd like to extend some wires of the original engine harness to locate the PCM inside the car. I know an aftermarket harness is an option, but dollar constraints indicate otherwise for me. I'm not afraid wiring issues, but I am concerned that extending wires might increase their resistance to a point where I create problems. One thought I had was going to the next larger size wire for the extension splice piece. I don't want to get into creating totally new wires for the ones that are not long enough. I want to simply splice a piece into the existing wire. I invite suggestions/comments/advice. Thanks in advance.

I don't think you gonna go long enough to make any difference. Just make sure the connections are good. Clean. soldered, wrapped etc...

Thanks Johnson. That's pretty much what I was hoping to hear. I should have mentioned that the longest extension would be about 40 inches. And only a few wires would need to be extended at all.
