My wife managed to rub the front bumper of her '00 honda against the brick house when pulling into the garage. What I am left with is about a 4" diameter area that is rubbed and scored. Some areas are down to the black plastic bumper and other areas it just scored the clearcoat resulting in bright white 'lines' in the red paint.

What do you guys suggest to do about this? We are planning on putting the car up for sale in the near future and I just wanted to 'mask' this area some. It doesn't need to be perfect.

What I planned on doing was to polish the area to make it all smooth, then use a prep-sol to clean it out, then apply the factory touchup paint to the deep cuts, and then hopefully either wetsand it or polish it somewhat smooth. What do you think about this?

Again it doesn't need to be perfect and I don't want to spend days trying to fix this area, but don't mind putting in a couple hours of work to help sell the car away. It is the only damage to this vehicle.

I can post a pic of the area if that would help?

thanks,
kev

Kev, go to your local paint shop and pick up some urethane bumper repair made by evercoat. Feather the surounding paint and sand the damaged area smooth and remove all paint. Mix the filler, add it and smooth. After the filler is smoothed just shoot the area with a epoxy primer(have the paint guy give you a rattle can of primer from PPG) then with an airbrush or you can get your local paint guy to mix up a rattle can of paint and spray it. After its cured just wetsand if needed and buff. You can do this all in under an hour and under $100 and you will have a better result than doing it half arsed.

Thanks. Yeah I think you are right, that sounds easy enough. I don't have an airbrush but the rattle can is a good option. I will stop by the local paint shop today and price out this stuff.

Thanks again.
