Hi, I am wondering if anyone has heard of or exerienced those Flathead engines currently available at Halibrand? They are suppose to be French surplus high output crated motors with 0 miles and "ready-to-run". Halibrand will not guarentee or warrenty these engines so I am wondering if a $3,000.00 invesment would be wise? I will appreciate any info someone may have on these engines. Thanks and have a great day! - Jerry.

I have not seen hp figures on those engines, but in general the flathead is very limited as far as hp output. There is an article in the current issue of Streetrod Builder on a highly modified blown flathead and it only puts out about 320hp. I know several rodders in the area who have the French flatheads in their resto rods and they run well, but are not powerhouses.

For a nostalgia rod, why not?

People love all different types of motors, just to be different.......

Some even like those weirdo motors....what are they again?...

Oh, yeah.....HEMI, HEMI, HEMI................:D :D

flathead engine

Jerry, what type of vehicle are you planning to use the engine in? What
parameters do you wish to meet? Would a crate small block ford satisfy
your needs and give more performance? There are lots of options. LOL
