I bought a pontiac 400 engine, and was told it came out
of a 1976 trans am. Im trying to find a flywheel to hook up a
4speed manual.The problem Im having is the center hole for the
crankshaft is 2-1/2 everything I have found in the junkyards the
hole is 2-3/4.

I don't know all the gory details, but Pontiac changed that hole size somewhere around 1975 or 1976.

get a good machinest to lathe and press in a ring to index.;.(locate) the flywheel
