I'm using a 1974 ford 302 in a project car, and the engine compartment is extremly tight, especially in terms of height.

I haven't got enough bits in place to do a test fit, but from the measurements I have I know it'll be a borderline fit. Modifying the hood to fit will be my last resort, but while I'm still building the engine I figured I'd try and minimise the overall vertical height of the engine, low profile oil pan, low profile manifold low profile airfilter etc etc.

Does anyone have any advice on which parts are a good fit for this?

My original intention was to go with a carb setup, but I was looking at the Edelbrock EFI retrofit, and it looks like it might save me a couple of inches, any opinions?

I can't recall the mfg. right now, but there is a company that makes an adapter to mount 2 side draft Webers on a regular 4 bbl intake. It reduces the heigth by several inches. I'll try and locate the mfg, but know it was a bigger company. I think it might be B&M.
