I need to know if my C4 in my 1970 F100 that has a 240 or 300 inline six will work with a 302. I know the 240-300 bellhousings are the same pattern, but is the torque converter the same one used with a 302. If the 240-300 torque converter won't work will the torque converter that is behind the 302 work with the 1970 truck C4. I am concerned with the transmission spline count, the flexplate mounting pattern and is the 240-300 trans strong enough for a 302 V8.
BTW the 302 is coming out of a 73 Mustang that has a C4 auto trans.

C-4 tranny

The 240-300 and the 302/ 351W/ 351 C all use the same bellhousing. Thte difference is in the flywheel

The 6 has a 0 balance flywheel, and the others all use a 28 oz off weight flywheel up til 82, when the 302's went to a 54 oz flywheel.

Use the Flex plate from your 73 and the torque converter from the 6 will bolt up to it.

The 28 oz flywheels from the 302/ 351W/351C all interchange.
An exeption is that there is also a 157 tooth version used with a smaller bellhousing in the later 70's and up mustangs, but as long as you keep the flywheel and bellhousing combination together they will all work.
