2002 V6 3.0 is a60 degree motor,not a 90. The older 3.8 liter engines were a 90 degree motor.

that engine uses the FE type intake manifold that extends under the valve covers. Modifying a FI manifold by a lot of milling machine work and heliarc welding would not be worth the effort to go to a carb. .
the ranger info is probably the cheapest horsepower gains.
