I was wondering if anyone else had ever seen an old school chrome bumper on an 1980 or newer Camaro? Mine has one and I can't tell if the previous owner replaced the fiberglass one or if it came off the line that way. I tried to look it up but the only 80' Camaro's I could find had the fiberglass front clip.

If its an 1980 then it came with a urethane bumper cover from the factory. I think someone has put on a 76 or earlier front end. Starting I think in 77 thru 81 all Camaros had urethane bumper covers. Are you sure its an 80?

'78-82 Camaro's all have a molded urethane rubber nose piece(bumper cover in modern speak).

The polished and hard anodized aluminum fat bumper(like the picture in your Avatar) was '74-77 Camaro. The '77 Camaro Z-28 had the same aluminum bumper, but it was painted body color for the Z-28 package.

'70-73 has a narrow (2" or so, skinny) chrome steel bumper.

If this question concerns the car in your Avatar, someone has swapped a '74-77 nose onto the 1980 body.

Front fenders are the same from '74-82, as are hoods.

Front Clip

I would leave it.. hubby wants to change it, and since we bought it for him it's his choice...lol Of course he wants it as close to original as possible, at least body wise. I really do like the old school bumpers better. ;)

Since an issue such as this is fundemental to hot rodding, I believe you may want to reconsider the husband part. This seems like a basic uncompatibility and as such can lead to nothing but further grief. Next thing you know he'll be putting a 350 sbc in a Mopar or something equally heinous. Do you really want to be part of that? I think not.:nono:

Heinous Husband!

LOL... I'm considering your advice.. Still though, we do some serious car stuff together. Once we ripped the diesel motor out of a 1981 Caprice Classic Coupe and replaced it with a rebuilt Olds 350.... Untouchable... looked like a family car and ran like a drag car..lol Sold it to a cop..lol Better that than get the tickets..
