I have been fighting a problem with my 83 Buick Park Ave/Electra. Symptoms are, running up to about 2000 rpm, runs fine, then acts like it is starving for fuel (surges real bad), no check engine light or codes come up. Back off and let it shift, and it runs good til about the same place. I have replaced the fuel lines, pump, filter, float and needle, even changed carbs, and still does it. Need some ideas! Was wondering if maybe there is a sock filter or something in the tank? Going crazy tring to figure it out.

I think the first thing to do would be tap a fuel pressure gauge in the line and tape it to the windsheild.(never bring it inside a car)Now go for a ride and watch it.That should tell you if you have a fuel problem.Lots of things could cause it.Clogged cat, trans ,ignition and on and on.

Sounds like a cat conveter to me seen a lot of them in 38 years at G M. Try droping the ex pipe and see if it don't run right. ROY
